BLOSSOM
In October 2021, the announcement of Windows 11 and the new Surface hardware sparked a creative challenge for me. Captivated by the "Bloom" wallpaper, I pushed myself to master cloth simulations in Blender to recreate that iconic, layered aesthetic.
The project, titled Blossom, became an exercise in technical refinement and material study. I experimented with various combinations of lighting and sub-surface scattering to capture the translucent, glass-like quality of the original design. By layering these simulations with specific compositional effects, I developed a suite of high-fidelity images that mirrored the visual language of the upcoming OS.
Ultimately, Blossom allowed me to bridge the gap between abstract simulation and commercial brand identity. It was a pivotal moment in learning how to use blender to emulate high-end art direction, resulting in a series of renders that felt right at home on a Surface display.
