FLORAL

This personal study explored how AI image generation, prompt structure, and compositing could help me visualise ideas I had been returning to for years. Using flowers as the subject, I developed a series of botanical images that balanced photographic detail with the controlled lighting and material qualities of CGI. The process offered a way to move quickly from an initial concept to a visual outcome, while experimenting with new tools and ways of working.

The exploration centred on a repeatable prompt structure: subject, environment, lighting, colour and material detail, rendering aesthetic, and composition. A gardenia study, for example, paired a white gradient background with a bloom of light across the petals, subtle colour transitions, and a vibrant green stem. References to Redshift, symmetry, and cool rim lighting helped establish the intended aesthetic, providing a consistent foundation for exploring different flowers and visual treatments.

Compositing brought another layer of control, allowing me to refine the generated imagery and shape the relationship between colour, light, and background. Moving between prompting and compositing became an exercise in translating visual intuition into clear instructions, then responding to the unexpected qualities of each result. The series became both a collection of long-imagined images and a practical study in how AI could contribute to my creative process.
